Leonberger Club of Ontario Regional Specialty in conjunction with Erie Shores Kennel Club All Breed Shows

With a record entry to date of 29 Leos entered in our 2nd Regional Specialty, the LCO welcomed exhibitors and Leo lovers from across Ontario and many exhibitors making the journey from South of the border. To all of our friends and those from the US who supported our shows, we thank you. Special mention to Morgan & Michael Avila (Lynbrook, New York), Nadine Love-Filer (Burlington, Wisconsin), Luanne Moede & Hannah Janke (Wausau, Wisconsin) and Amanda Shea (Ware, Maryland).

We hope everyone had a successful weekend and look forward to seeing you back again next year. To our friends who could not attend this year, mark your calendars now for the weekend of June 2, 3, 4 & 5, 2017. Same great location, same fun show!!!

The day started off with Ms. Pam McClintock from Welland, Ontario judging a very strong group of 6 young potentials in Sweepstakes. Pam chose the following for her top placements:

BEST OF OPPOSITE IN SWEEPSTAKES:

Absoliuti Idile Up Guatamala (Tawny) owned by Cindy Hunt

We were pleased to have Mr. Fabio Amorin from Brazil as the judge for our Regional Specialty. His winners were as follows:

BEST OF BREED:

Ch. CR Joie de Vivre Gucci (Carche) – breeder Cindy Hunt. Owned and presented by Cheryl Weston

BEST OF OPPOSITE SEX/WINNERS BITCH:

Bludrift’s Champagne Taste of Diamonds (Champagne) bred and owned by Luanne Moede. Presented by Hannah Janke.

At the All Breed show later in the day, Champagne went Best of Breed, successfully garnered a Group 1st under judge Ms. Carmen Haller from British Columbia and was successful in moving forward to Best In Show honours under Mr. Jon Cole from Tennessee. Huge congratulations on this accomplishment as Champagne is only the 4th Leonberger in Canadian history to be awarded a Best in Show and she also became a new Canadian Champion in only 2 days. Well done!!

Heronview’s Just Cruising (Nuka) bred by Lori Dzingala, owned by Shanna Rae and presented by Carrie Lucas.

This win also completed Nuka’s requirements for his Canadian Championship. Congratulations!!

Following the Specialty a delicious lunch was enjoyed by all.

Thank you Iivi Sillaste for organizing a great menu including sandwiches, salads, fruit platter and deserts prepared by European Meats & Deli. If you went away hungry, it was your own fault…

For those who donated items to the Silent Auction, your generosity was greatly appreciated. We had many wonderful items to select from. As always, a portion of the proceeds from the Silent Auction go towards helping Leos in need through Leo Rescue Canada.

Special thank you to Elizabeth Pierce who handmade and donated a fabulous Leo hair pillow for the cause. The entire amount of the winning bid for the pillow is going to Leo Rescue Canada.
