This year’s Leonberger Club of Ontario Fun Day was again held at K-9 Country Inn in Beeton on Saturday, September 16. There were 16 dogs and 27 people out for a good time. It was great to see so many leos and leo puppies come out with just one thing on their minds – let’s have a lot of fun! Well, except for Larry and Theo, who had a little business to attend to before joining the fun. Larry (Orovale’s In It To Win It) with co-owner Kyle Brownell and Theo (Kamenah Everybody’s Talkin Bout Theo) with owner Laura Madden earned their CGN titles! Congratulations! Because we were a good sized group, we broke off into 2 groups for the morning. One group received an introduction to barn hunt while the other started off with scent detection. With scent detection, it was interesting to see the different ways dogs sniff to get a scent. Some air sniff, others go to ground. I unfortunately didn’t really get to see how everyone did with barn hunt in my group, as Hanna and Cully had to excuse themselves for over exuberant behavior. After everyone had a chance to practice, the groups switched activities. After a great bbq lunch and plenty of desserts, everyone had turns at dock diving or just getting into the water for a cooling swim. Alex Klebnikoff bravely got into the water to help encourage all the young puppies to come down the ramp and get their toy. Thanks very much Alex! It was perfect sunny, warm day for a fun day and everybody had a great time learning about new activities they can do with their dogs, meeting new friends and catching up with old ones
